The Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders (Alliance) isseeking a dynamic, self-motivated Membership Director to manage membership relationships, cultivate new members and lead membership activities for the association.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Membership Director reports to and works directly with the CEO focusing on recruitment, member management, organizational representation and any additional strategic support needed.


  • Grow Alliance membership by recruiting, developing, and onboarding new members.
  • Thoroughly understand the Alliance’s vision, goals and target membership.
  • Develop and lead programs, initiatives and policies designed to increase paid membership and membership renewals.
  • Research companies, organizations and individuals in each of the Alliance membership categories.
  • Source leads for prospective members and determine the decision makers for Alliance membership.
  • Proactively pursue potential members through phone calls and follow up emails. Work with the CEO to create a protocol for contacting potential members.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and members of the Alliance team to develop succinct and compelling messaging for potential members.

Member Management
  • Maintain a strong, engaged membership base in support of the Alliance’s mission and goals.
  • Build and manage excellent relationships with all current and former members of the Alliance, ensuring both the Membership Director and the CEO have deep connections to key contacts at member organizations.
  • Increase and maintain the Alliance’s membership retention rate.
  • Solicit, close and gain sponsorship fees from members and other stakeholders for the events that need sponsorship.
  • Work with existing members to obtain potential leads for new members and establish relationships for renewals.
  • On an ongoing basis, identify opportunities for the Alliance to provide increased value to members and work with the CEO to implement changes.
  • Manage member communication, including writing emails, making calls and setting up and leading meetings.
  • Work with Alliance communications staff to create consistent member content and provide compelling materials and messaging to each member.
  • Join the Alliance member calls, which typically take place on the second Thursday evening of each month, and produce minutes.

Organizational Representation 
  • Where relevant, represent the Alliance at meetings and events.
  • Attend select wound care conferences to market and recruit new members, and cultivate relationships with current and past members.
  • Meet with wound care clinics and wound care provider groups to garner new members and establish a knowledge of the Alliance.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to provide updates to the Board of Directors, Alliance members, and other stakeholders on scheduled calls and in meetings.

Additional Strategic Support 
  • As needed, provide other strategic support to the CEO as she engages the Alliance board, members and stakeholders.


  • Excitement for and commitment to the Alliance’s vision and goals
  • Self-sufficient and collaborates effectively with others

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a general knowledge of the wound care space

  • Sales or marketing experience in the wound care field or equivalent experience as a membership director

  • Proven track record of selling and closing deals for high-dollar dues membership programs

  • Active knowledge of players in the wound care industry; established contacts with wound care companies’ senior management preferred

  • Superior communication skills (writing, speaking and negotiation)

  • Skilled and proactive problem solver who is adept at bringing solutions to senior leaders

  • High-level of proficiency using Microsoft programs and virtual facilitation tools including Zoom and Microsoft Teams


This position is available in a full-time or part-time capacity. If needed, the Alliance will provide a computer.


The Alliance is based in Bethesda, MD, at the CEO’s home office. Due to COVID-19, the Membership Director may begin work in a virtual capacity and progress to hybrid work that includes working some days each week at the Bethesda office. The Membership Director can also expect to spend time in Washington DC as well as travel to different locations around the United States in support of the Alliance’s work and membership development objectives.
